How do you keep up with everything that's going on in Kansas City?
A new app developed in the metro puts local events at your fingertips.
“Our goal on day one is to reach millions of people,” said Ziyak Vice President Evan Holwick.
The Ziyak app was born from small talk at work.
“One of the guys told me he went to BaconFest, which to me sounded like the most amazing thing in the world. I was very sad that I missed it,” said Ziyak President Randy Grommet.
Ziyak is a hub for all things social in 200 cities across the country.
“You can see what's going on today, tomorrow, this weekend,” Holwick said.
With the app, the information is just a tap away, and it lets users connect with friends.
“You have the ability to let them follow you and you can follow them in the app as well,” Grommet said.
Company officials hope the app will help people explore the city.
“I don’t want people to be stuck in this Netflix generation. I don’t want to just show you what is going on in your city; I want you to go out and explore,” Holwick said.
The app launches Jan. 14. It is free to download. Ziyak executives said they are planning to partner with Ticket Solutions to allow users to buy tickets through the Ziyak app.
