“The American Dream is still alive out there, and hard work will get you there. You don’t necessarily need to have an Ivy League education or to have millions of dollars [in] startup money. It can be done with an idea, hard work and determination.”
Randy Grommet and Evan Holwick are two men who are pursuing “The American Dream”.
For the past two years, our President and Vice President (Randy and Evan) have been developing, creating, brainstorming, recruiting, building, designing, and watching their dream come into fruition as Ziyak literally turned from an idea and into something tangible before their very eyes.
I joined this team just six months ago as an “assistant”. Randy and Evan shared with me their great American Dream, and their passionate fire spread quickly to me. I would do whatever it took to make Ziyak a success.
We needed a website? I created a website. We needed a blog? I created a blog. 700 boxes needed to be folded? I folded. I like to joke with Evan when he asks me to do something that it doesn’t fall under my “job description”.
I don’t have a job description - Because, when I joined this company, I knew that my job would be changing every single day as the needs of the company changed.
As I sat in our meeting two days ago, shortly before KMBC arrived to film a segment for that night’s news, I listened intently to Randy as he pumped up our team, encouraging us to give 150% for the next two weeks and we will see amazing results. I also looked at our two newest teammates, Hana and Angela, and realized that they joined the team during the craziest season we will ever be in.
Now, we’ve been in a season of pre-launch for a while. It is almost like we have been preparing for the biggest birthday party of the decade. We’ve known this birthday is quickly approaching and we’ve been doing all we could to prepare ourselves for it. We spent months creating the décor, planning the menu and organizing the games. And now this birthday party is just nine days away, all of the RSVPs are in, all of the food has been ordered, but we still have so much to do.
For the last few weeks our office has been full of organized chaos. The chaos will remain for the next nine days and beyond and we ensure everything is completely ready for the launch of Ziyak on January 14.
Our coffee pot is constantly dripping and empty 5 Hour Energy bottles are spilling out of our trash cans. The phones are constantly ringing, our computers dinging with new emails. We’ve welcomed two news crews into our office and Randy’s and Evan’s voices rang through the radio while people traveled to work on their morning commute. We have folded 700 boxes, 1,400 t-shirts and tank tops, counted over 100,000 Ninja cards, and responded to hundreds of messages.
We are busy.
And we are tired (except for the hour that the caffeine stays in our systems).
But this is how we must create the American Dream.
Hard work and determination are surging through our veins while excitement bubbles up and overflows.
Ashley was opening all ten of the boxes filled with our t-shirts, when she cut herself and had to be bandaged up a bit. Brian and I laughed remembering when Evan stapled his own hand last week and I cut myself on our island last month. We have literally poured blood, sweat, and tears into this American Dream.
At Ziyak, we have become family. We have grown close as we pursue this dream together.
And we are so incredibly excited.
Stay excited with us.
